Long-term data collected over a 14-year period from 80,000 women in the US showed that women taking at least 400 mg of folic acid per day and more than 3 mg of vitamin B6 had their risk of heart attack almost half. It was shown that vitamin E, an antioxidant, reduces heart attack. Data show that adequate calcium intake (1,500 mg daily) for menopausal and postmenopausal women is important for optimal heart health and bone health. The good thing here is that women's heart disease can be reduced by getting the need for daily vitamins from properly prepared daily multivitamins that are easier to obtain.
